A Columbus area technical college will open a nursing school in Fairborn. Hondros College, which has its main campus in Westerville, is expanding its nursing program to its Fairborn campus at 1810 Successful Way this April.

Both the Ohio Board of Nursing and the State Board of Career Colleges and Schools approved the nursing program's expansion Jan. 17.
The program prepares students with no nursing experience for the licensed practical nurse exam in four quarters, or 44 weeks, including clinical experience at hospitals and nursing homes. Empire State College to offer its first nursing courses this fall
Empire State College plans to offer its first nursing courses toward a bachelor's degree to at least 40 students this fall.
The Board of Regents approved the school's first health program this week.

Gov. Eliot Spitzer is expected to grant final approval soon, according to college officials.
The college will offer 60 to 68 upper-division courses to registered nurses who are interested in earning a four-year degree.
The program was created in an effort to address a shortage of nurses who go on to earn graduate degrees to teach nursing, according to Interim President Dr. Joyce Elliott.
All of the nursing courses will be offered online except for the capstone course in advanced clinical experience.
